Dear Prime Minister of Japan
I am Watanabe Nguyen Minh Tuan, a Japanese citizen of Vietnamese origin.
I am a Vietnamese teacher at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.
I would like to propose some policies that should be established to bring more happiness to the Japanese people, as follows:
1- Eliminate inheritance tax. Inheritance left by parents to their children is a moral issue, should not be taxed. Singapore does not impose inheritance tax. Japan should follow suit. The LDP has studied the issue of eliminating this inheritance tax, but has not yet made a final decision.
2- For all new startups, no tax should be imposed for 10 years from the date of startup, to encourage startups of new, young companies. Japanese companies are all old, conservative, slow to innovate, and are falling behind quickly in the world market. Japan needs new companies, with new ways of doing things.
3- Do not cut down trees every autumn, let trees grow freely and naturally, to both protect the environment and save the budget.
4- Reduce the state apparatus, according to the formula 2 out, 1 in, every year, the number of new recruits is only half the number of retirees. Prime Minister Kan of the Democratic Party of Japan once wanted to reduce the state apparatus, but has not been able to do so.
5- Increase the autonomy of the provinces further, so that each province can develop on its own like a state in the US, or like a small Singapore. The 47 provinces of Japan have become 47 economies of the same size as Singapore, “47 Singapore economies” compete, compete, support each other to develop, and are not too dependent on the world market. Prime Minister Hatoyama of the Democratic Party of Japan once wished for this.
6- Strengthen the Japanese yen, not devalue it as Mr. Abe wrongly did, causing disaster for the Japanese economy. Prime Minister Hatoyama of the Democratic Party of Japan once said “a strong yen means a strong Japanese economy”.
7- Encourage the Japanese people to eat natural, fresh food, reduce processed industrial food and drink, to ensure the health of the people. The Japanese live the longest in the world, but that is the generation born about 100 years ago. Today’s young generation of Japanese, eating industrial food and drinking bottled industrial water, is getting weaker both physically and mentally, unable to become a smart, creative, dynamic, healthy workforce like the previous generation of Japanese fathers.
8- Build Japan into a country that speaks two languages, Japanese and English. Starting with the need for official government documents to be printed in both Japanese and English. Traffic instructions should be in both Japanese and English. English education should start from the first grade of elementary school, and continue through the twelfth grade of graduate school, so that 18-year-old Japanese can speak both Japanese and English fluently.
I hope that the above ideas will be considered and implemented by you, the Prime Minister, so that you can bring Japan to the most beautiful and happiest place in the world.
Sincerely,
Watanabe Tuan-From Tokyo
