Reading Vietnamese newspapers now is dangerous. It erodes human morality and personality, a culture imbued with national identity is nowhere to be seen, mainly seeing cheap sensational stories.

Freedom of the press in Hanoi-Vietnam during the French colonial period

During the French period, Vietnamese people were free to publish newspapers and freely criticize the French to a moderate extent.

The Hanoi press at that time, in the first half of the twentieth century (from 1900 to up to 1954) tended to highlight the Vietnamese national spirit.

The French have trained for our country many great intellectual positions, talented and virtuous, saved in history books, named streets.

And today, there are too many people who are trained, hold high positions, ministers, secretaries, presidents, lieutenants, major generals, but then become corrupt, arrested, prosecuted, disciplined, being kept in the history books for people to laugh and spit at.
